Where Everyone Knows Your Name: ‘Cheers’ to Living in Downtown Detroit!

January 12, 2020 | Detroit

There are lots of places that let you tell them that it’s your Birthday so you get some sort of perk. But when you live in Downtown Detroit, you become such a member of the community that incredible eateries reach out to you to wish you HBD and buy you dinner!!

I’m surrounded by more restaurants and bars than I can count (but can walk to in a matter of minutes), and, because I live Downtown, they know me as well as my friends and followers. Actually, maybe better, since I don’t make a big deal out of my Birthday.

But Detroit Beer Co. does.

Which is why they sent me Birthday wishes—along with the invitation to come in and enjoy a free entrée any time during my Birthday month!

I already know what I’m going to order.

Their Chorizo Avocado, a Stone Pizza with Crumbled Chorizo, Avocado, Mozz and Pizza Sauce, which will pair perfectly with their Local 1529 IPA.  The American Hops, presenting predominant flavors of Grapefruit and Citrus, it is brewed with will offset the Avocado, and the nutty malt notes will weigh in nicely with the Chorizo. [6.7% ABV 60 IBU]

Or maybe I’ll have their Louisiana Jambalaya, with Andouille Sausage, Ham, Chicken and Shrimp simmered in a Spicy Tomato Sauce with Peppers, Onions & Mushrooms and served on a bed of Rice with fresh Garlic Bread. I can wash this down with their Broadway Light, a 100% Barley brew that is clean and crisp, that won’t drown them but instead will let me savor ALL the flavors in the Jambalaya! [4.3% ABV]

Oh, wait.

There is also their Pan Roasted Salmon, a Pan-Seared Canadian Salmon Filet, served with Citrus Risotto AND Broccoli and Cashew Salad. While this is always fantastic, it’s on tap because Ecto Kewler Sour is one of DBC’s Seasonal Taps—and, brewed with 130 pounds of Blood Orange Puree and some Lactose for sweetness, this brew will have the weight and flavor to round off my meal. [5.5% ABV]

So maybe I don’t know what I’m going to order. But that doesn’t matter. Because I live close enough to Detroit Beer Co. to change it up every time I go in for drinks and dinner. Just like they do—with their Guest Taps and Seasonal Taps. The only thing I’m sure of is that whatever I choose, it will be fantastic.

Oh. And that they will know my name.

Because I live in Downtown Detroit, where ‘they’re always glad I came,’ and where I want to be.

Now that’s something to celebrate—every day of the year!
