Tucked away on Randolph Street, Detroit Seafood Market has the perfect parkside patio for summertime dining in the city. It also offers a bar and booths that are boast-worthy.
The semi-circular bar is ideal for catching up with colleagues or friends and the deep booths–some of which are curtained–are perfect for private parties.
And no matter where you sit–patio, bar, or booth–the ambiance of the place, with its historic turn of the century architecture and live music will constantly remind you that you’re in Paradise Valley.
When my brother, a wine connoisseur, came in from Puerto Rico, I knew there was no better place to take him on his first night than Detroit Seafood Market. He was delighted by the wine list, ultimately ordering three bottles for us because the selection and price were “too good to pass up.” He was also impressed by the seafood–its freshness and preparation. No small feat when you’re from an island! We ended up sitting at the bar for hours sampling dish after dish while sipping wine and listening to live jazz.
But while there isn’t a bad seat in the house, don’t miss your chance to stroll through a tasting of Detroit Seafood Market’s ‘Swirl, Sniff, Sip, & Munch’ will offer 8+ wines and some of their “Chef’s festive munchies” for only $30 pp (Thursday, July 27, from 6-8, with advance reservations required).
While I don’t expect their Sunday Brunch Roast Beef Carving Station to be part of the selection (Brunch also offers Omelets made to order; Collard Greens, Fried Chicken, and Housemate Waffles!), I’m hoping some of my favourites are offered:
Crab, Avocado & Mango Stack,
Jumbo Lump Crabmeat tossed in Remoulade and layered with Avocado and Mango
