St. Patrick’s Day Starts Early in Detroit! Monday Munchies Kick Off the Week on Woodward!

March 08, 2020 | Detroit

Starting next weekend, there are going to be a lot of official St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. But, true aficionados, know that St. Practice Day is equally as important—and it’s super easy when you live in Downtown Detroit!

Let’s start at the beginning (of the week). In 1979, Shannon’s (est. 1974) became Foran’s Irish Pub, which became Grand Trunk Pub (est. 2008). And since we’re starting off early, let’s begin with Happy Hour, which is from 4 until 7 p.m. at Grand Trunk. Along with $3 Jameson shots, you can get $5 pub snacks—and I recommend the Reuben Poutine Tots, with Wigley’s Corned Beef, Stout Kraut, Swiss Cheese Curd, and Jameson Gravy. Because nothing pairs with Jameson like Jameson.

And be sure to fuel up for the week to come with the Grand Trunk Pub Reuben, Wigley’s Corned Beef, Stout Kraut, Swiss Cheese, 1000 Russians Dressing on Rye and served with Better Made Chips.
