Let’s face it—we’re living in unprecedented times. Schools are closed, restaurants are take-out only, and most workplaces have moved to an online format. You’re spending more time at home than you ever thought possible, and it seems like everything fun has been cancelled for the foreseeable future.
Even though loft living is the best, we know that months of staying safe at home has gotten everyone feeling antsy, even our residents. Here are 5 activities you can do to brighten up your days and have a little more fun while still following social distancing protocol.
Take a walk in the park. Taking walks is safe as long as you wear your masks and maintain 6 feet of distance apart from others. It can be a great way to get some vitamin D, clear your head, and even get some much-needed exercise. Library Park and Campus Martius Park are two nearby options, but you could even challenge yourself to get to Harmonie Park or circle Comerica Park (and get excited for when we can go to baseball games again).
Host a virtual happy hour. If your job has switched over to a work-from-home model, you’re already well acquainted with the common video call softwares. Connect with your friends by hosting a virtual happy hour, game night, spa night, or anything else you can come up with. This could be a great opportunity to connect with coworkers you haven’t seen in weeks as well as old friends you haven’t seen in years!
Order a special takeout meal. Whether you’re living with a significant other, your family, or by yourself, ordering your favorite food (or trying something completely new) is a great way to bring some joy to your day. Nearly every restaurant is offering takeout these days, and if you don’t want to leave your house, delivery apps are plentiful and thriving. Vicente’s Cuban Cuisine, SavannahBlue, and Downtown Louie’s Lounge are just a few close-by options for a delicious and unique meal in the comfort of your home.
Try some home workouts. You might be missing the gym right now, but working out at home has some positives too—no hefty gym fee, no sweaty machines, and complete privacy! Whether you’re a gym buff or total newbie, there are millions of free workout videos for all levels to explore online. We even have another blog post outlining the random household objects you can use to improve your fitness!
Go in on your self care. If we have to be stuck at home, we might as well use the time to improve ourselves. Take a bubble bath, break out those face masks you’ve been saving—maybe even grab a luxurious bottle of wine next door from House of Pure Vin.
