When you live in Downtown Detroit, you have a lot to celebrate—and lots of ways to celebrate—every day of the year. But New Year’s Eve is always special!

With so much to do, we get started early here in Detroit with Noon Year’s Eve, a family-friendly event at the Detroit Historical Museum! What better way to start the celebrations of the New Year than by celebrating the history of how we got here! Admission to the event is free, and the museum is open from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. (but you’ll want to be there for the ‘Countdown to Noon’!). I love the fact that every time I step out the front door of my Downtown luxury loft I am surrounded by historical buildings and sites, and that organizations like the Detroit Historical Museum capture and celebrate my great city all year long!

For the Foodies, New Year’s Eve at The Detroit Foundation Hotel’s Apparatus Room will never be forgotten! I love that I can walk just a few blocks to the historic Fire Department Headquarters that has been transformed into a hotel and eatery that Time magazine named in its “World’s Greatest Places” of 2018! Celebrate 2019 with a five-course pre fixe menu from Chef Thomas Lents and Champagne Toasts!

The Palms Theatre.  The State Theatre. The Fillmore Detroit. The name of this incredible concert and dance venue may have changed over the years, but it has always been ‘The Place To Be on New Year’s Eve’ with their annual Resolution Ball. Don’t drop the ball with making your plans for when the Ball drops on New Year’s Eve—their VIP All Access Passes (7-hour Premium Bar) and NYE Party Passes (5-hour Premium Bar) are almost sold out! I love the fact that for all their great events and incredible shows I’m just a five-minute walk from their box office all year round!

And while I have more options than I can count for how to celebrate the New Year, all the great times I have had in Detroit, my amazing neighbors and friends, and the incredible history of the city I live in just a short walk from my Downtown Detroit loft, on New Year’s Day, I will be celebrating literally just outside my front door. At the Hudson Café. Where I can wrap up the past year with some Red Velvet Pancakes or celebrate the New Year with Cinnabunn Pancakes. I can even not leave my loft and just have it delivered directly to me with the Room Service they offer me and my neighbors!

Life is good. Every year I’ve lived at The Lofts of Merchants Row in Downtown Detroit has been great—and I expect this next year will only get better as I gather with neighbors and make new friends and my city continues to grow!

Happy New Year From Detroit!
