The Lofts of Merchants Row is in the heart of Downtown Detroit, and surrounded by incredible pubs and eateries, so a Pub Crawl is not an exceptional event for the residents of my luxury lofts building.
But every month The Lofts of Merchants Row hosts an event for residents to get together with one another and experience Downtown Detroit with neighbors and friends (which is probably why I count so many of my neighbors as friends!).
And this month, The Lofts of Merchants Row hired Detroit Rolling Pub, so that we could pedal our way to some of our favorite spots! Detroit Rolling Pub “incorporates two favorite pastimes, bikes and beer! Appearing much like a trolley or cable car, [they] add a twist—riders provide the horsepower by pedaling this passenger ‘bike’ while enjoying the various sights and attractions of Detroit.”
We kicked off the evening by meeting up at Queens Bar, which is also not unusual as this excellent gathering place is conveniently located less than a block from the Lofts of Merchants Row (and within easy walking distance of Comerica, Ford Field, and Little Caesar’s Arena). Those who got there early could enjoy a drink on their ideally-positioned corner-patio before we got started.
While we all walk these streets on our way to work, the store, or the dog park (Shout Out to Little Dog), for this event we got to drink in (literally—you can bring adult-beverages on the Detroit Rolling Pub) the incredible architecture, the innovative renovations, and the historical sites on our way to our next stop: Level Two Bar & Rooftop in Greektown. You get the best of all worlds at Level Two—Indoor and Outdoor Bars, TVs and DJs for Sports and Dancing, Small Plates and Loaded Gyros, and drinks galore that run the gamut from real Champagne (Dom Perignon) to the Champagne of Beers (Miller High Life)!
We then charged onward to Centaur Bar, which is aptly named! The mythical creature combined horse and man, and Centaur perfectly combines upscale (craft cocktails and incredible ‘imaginative’ cuisine) with getting real (pool tables and movies nights). With their excellent Happy Hours (from when they open at 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.) and serving ‘Cocktails & Bites’ until 2 a.m. every night of the week, this is a pretty regular stop for all Downtown Detroit residents—especially since it’s so conveniently close to home and Home Plate at Comerica (actually, it’s basically a short pass to all the sports and theatre venues, which makes it #WIN no matter what’s on your roster for the evening)!
And living Downtown is always a #WIN, because even if my luxury loft building didn’t put on resident events every month where I could go on such great outings, I would know about the Detroit Rolling Pub—and pretty much all the great places and every event going on Downtown—because I literally see it and hear it all as it happens outside my windows!
Yes, Windows. Plural. Because that is just one more perk of living at the Lofts of Merchants Row. Even on the nights I decide to stay in, the huge windows that line my loft offer me constant vistas of Downtown and, even from my couch, remind me of all the reasons I love to call Detroit ‘Home.’
