While the prediction is for flurries hitting Detroit, my forecast for the weekend is pure fun!

One of my coworkers was worrying today about how the weather would affect their plans to head up North (a four-hour drive) and all I could think was how much more fun it is going to be when I hit the Mt. Brighton Ski and Snowboard Experience just a few steps from the front door of my Downtown Luxury Loft at the Quicken Loans Winter Blast Weekend!

The resort is actually sponsoring a Learn to Ski and Snowboard Experience, but even though I already know how to do both, I can’t wait to hit the slopes they’re going to create in the heart of the city I call home!

“Mt. Brighton Ski Area has been one of the legendary family winter destinations on the Midwest snowsports scene,” said Beth Lohman, General Manager, Mt. Brighton. “Mt. Brighton is truly where epic begins. We have developed thousands of first-timers into lifelong skiers and riders, and are looking forward to bringing the slopes to the city of Detroit to introduce festivalgoers to this fun recreational sport and showcase our high quality snowmaking system and surface.”

And I can go from the T-Bar to T-Mobile, with their Winter Slide, a “30-foot high slide [that] will whisk riders through a pitch-black tube and quickly drop them at a steep, 40-degree angle. With speeds of up to 20 mph, this exhilarating attraction is one attendees will want to experience again and again.”

And once is never enough—which is why while I get to hit the ice every Tuesday at the Campus Martius Park Rink with my Come Play Detroit Broomball League, I can skate for FREE all weekend thanks to Delta Dental!

And, from 4:30 to 7:30 on Friday night, I will be Skating with the Stars, presented by Figure Skating in Detroit!

On top of that (literally), I can be even closer to the stars (again, literally) as I Zip Line 300 feet across the sky and down Woodward just a hop-skip-and-jump from my front door, thanks to Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort!

Since all Winter getaways (even those that you can get to without getting your car out of the garage) should include some ‘down time,’ I can gather my thoughts in the Ice Garden, presented by US Ice and The Detroit News just around the block from my Luxury Loft in Cadillac Square.

Or I can visit the Comfort Zone, which “will showcase live, local musicians on two stages during Winter Blast Weekend…The Redico Monroe Street Comfort Zone will feature the Michigan Lottery Stage” and there is also the TCF Bank Stage for even more musical entertainment.

And while the arts feed the soul, Quicken Loans and Kroger have not forgotten my need to feed, well, me—and everyone. So, while I can get my fill of delish treats at A Taste of Nawlins, Baked Delicious, Mr. Deep Fried, Chick A D-Fried Chicken, Crepe De Twah-Sweet & Savory Crepes, Detroit Panzerotti, Imperial Ferndale, Mercurio Foods, Niko’s Gyros, Soaring Eagle Cuisine Machine, and The Lobster Truck where “each Food Truck…is donating food to those in need in support of Kroger’s Zero Hunger Zero Waste Program.  Kroger is sponsoring each food trucks entrance into the event in exchange for their generous donations to local shelters through Forgotten Harvest.”

But the sweetest part of my weekend will be warming up by the fire at the Marshmallow Roasters, presented by the Detroit Downtown Development Authority, where I can get even S’more of the city I love to call home!

Winter Blast Weekend runs from Friday, February 7th through Sunday, February 9th—and everyone can (and should) attend the festivities for FREE, even if you don’t live in a Downtown Detroit Luxury Loft where every weekend is a BLAST!
