Getting The New Year Off to a Great (and Greener) Start: My Downtown Detroit Loft Helps ME Be a Better Person!

January 05, 2020 | Uncategorized

I don’t think I’m alone in always striving to be a better person throughout the year. I know my neighbors and friends are always doing the same because I see them working to make the world a better place every day.

But, sometimes, it can feel like the world is a really big place to make better all by yourself.

Which is why I love that my Loft’s Building Management is on my team when it comes to me being the best person I can be and making the world a better place!

Trying to keep my Carbon Footprint as small as possible is nothing new to me. I minimize my usage of resources as much as possible and waste as little as I can, which includes trying to have the smallest garbage bag possible (I’m down to a Kroger-sized garbage bag every other day at the most—and, yes, I’m humble-bragging #SorryNotSorry).

And while recycling has always been a part of ‘doing my part,’ my Downtown Detroit Leasing Office has now made my role in that so much easier!

Last week, just in time for everyone’s New Year’s Resolutions to make themselves and the world a better place, they rolled out a new Recycling Program! One that makes it even easier for me and my neighbors in my loft building to make the world a greener and better place!

Did you know that “recycling might be the most straightforward way to cut emissions…recycling all plastic waste would reduce carbon dioxide equivalent emissions to 4.9 gigatons in 2050, or 25 percent from business-as-usual emissions”?

And my Loft’s management has made it possible for me to not just recycle plastic, but Paper, Cans, and Glass.

Which means they’re not just looking out for me today, but looking out for all of us thirty years down the road!

Now that’s a resolution I can get behind! Especially with my Downtown Detroit Lofts Team behind me!

  1. Very inspirational, thank you! I’m really trying my best to recycle as well but I feel like I’m not doing enough and this constant feeling is absolutely killing me! I’ve almost stopped using plastic, also using the smallest garbage bag available around me at the stores, also not buying any of the mass-market chemicals, shampoo, etc. But what if this is still not enough? What if in 30 years everything will only get worse? We can’t change other people if they don’t want to do it themselves. Or am I too pessimistic?
