Fireworks, Friends, and Food: Independence Day in Detroit!

July 02, 2019 | Detroit

The Fourth of July is a long-celebrated holiday in the States, so lots of people wonder why Detroit sets off their Fireworks before the official holiday (on the last Monday in June). The reason is so that we can celebrate a combined holiday with our Canadian neighbors (who celebrate their Independence on July 1).

My luxury loft’s Leasing Office takes this emphasis and the importance of neighbors into consideration and hosts a Detroit Freedom Festival / Ford Fireworks Celebration for me and all of my neighbors—on the rooftop of our building!

Every year I get to meet new neighbors and catch up with old friends who live in my building while we all enjoy a delicious BBQ, prepared by The Hudson Café on our first floor, with Pulled Pork, Ribs, Potato Salad, Corn on the Cob, and Coleslaw.

And, just like the Fireworks combine the celebrations of two countries, my leasing office combines the BBQ spread with Cottage Inn Pizza and Cookies!

Nothing bonds people like friendly competition, so the games they put out for us, like Cornhole, are a WIN!

And before we all enjoy the symphonic boom of the fireworks, the live music from Circle of Sound ‘kicks’ it up notch!

Of course, all this is accompanied by the backdrop of the city skyline we all love and all call home!

Happy Fourth of July to ALL Our Friends & Neighbors!
