Winter Blast: Where to Warm-Up While ‘Chilling’ in Detroit!

Don’t miss the Meridian Winter Blast this weekend! There will be Comfort Zones and comfort food—like Southern Cooking from Beans & Cornbread, BBQ from Lazybones Smokehouse, and Chili from Red Crown.  And things are sure to heat up with performers like The People’s Republic of Casey Cooper, Ulterior Motive, and SKYrise on stage!

When you live in a Downtown Detroit loft just down the street from Campus Martius, you also know there are any number of local establishments where you can cozy up with a cocktail before, after, or during the festivities!

Here are a few recommendations for local establishments to help you keep your ‘spirits’ up this weekend (and any time) when the temps drop!

Firebird Tavern: Fire your night up with their Pimento Cheese, with White Cheddar, Pickled Jalapeños, Green Bell Peppers on a Toasted Baguette, served with Louisiana Hot Sauce!

Cafe d’Mongo’s Speakeasy: Whether you pop in for a beer or a cocktail, the crowd at d’Mongo’s will keep you warm—locals flock here every weekend and celebrities stop by when they’re in town!

The Town Pump Tavern: Put some sizzle and zip in your night with their Sizzling Zip Shrimp, a Roaring 20’s Town Pump Classic revived! Five Jumbo Herb and Garlic Marinated Shrimp, served on a sizzling platter swimming in Zip Sauce, with Crusty Bread for Dipping!

Cliff Bell’s: There is nothing hotter than some swinging Jazz…so get your Groove on with a live show and grab that tiger by the tail with their Tigers Tail, Traverse City Whisky, St. Elizabeth Allspice Dram, Fresh Lime Juice, Simple Syrup, and Angostura Bitters!

Vicente’s Cuban Cuisine: Heat your night up with Salsa Dancing (it doesn’t matter if you know how, they give lessons, so you just get to have fun!) and Chorizos con Setas al Jerez, with Spanish Chorizo and Fresh Mushrooms Sautéed with Olive Oil, Minced Garlic and Flambéed with Sherry Wine!

The Hudson Café: Their Huevos Rancheros, Cheese-Filled Tortilla layered with House Potatoes, Sunny-Side Up Eggs, Ranchero Sauce, Sour Cream, Guacamole, and added Chorizo will fuel you up for all the fun this weekend!
