A few weeks ago, we wrote about recent acknowledgment of Detroit as a city of innovation, with the U.S. Government with plans to open a satellite Patent Office. Just over a month later, Dice.com, a leading career website for technology and engineering professionals, reports Detroit is the fastest growing metro area for technology jobs.
If that isn’t a reassurance of Detroit’s future and our city’s residents to persevere and evolve, we’re not sure what is. And while the automotive industry will forever be a part of our DNA, tech opportunities today have expanded widely to virtually every industry – including healthcare, financial, retail and telecommunications. All of this means opportunity in southeast Michigan.
More than 800 jobs are available on any given day, a 101% increase over 2010. And with an average annual salary of more than $71,000 (a 2% raise over last year), the city offers plenty for tech job seekers to be excited about.
Couple a well-paying Detroit tech job with big city Lofts living and you’ll find yourself in the lap of luxury along “Webward Avenue”, as Quicken Loans CEO Dan Gilbert calls it, in the middle of Motown’s technology revolution.
