Detroit’s Winter Blast: Where to Chill and Thrill Downtown this Weekend!

Slide into your weekend literally—by checking out the Meridian Winter Slide, a “30-foot high slide [that] will whisk riders through a pitch-black tube and quickly drop them at a steep, 40-degree angle. With speeds of up to 20 mph, this exhilarating attraction is one attendees will want to experience again and again. Children, and less adventurous types, can ride down a 30-degree drop slide that is still bound to excite festivalgoers.”

Top that off—again literally—with a bird’s eye view of Cadillac Square, as you soar 300 the length of a football field (300 feet) on the MetroPCS Zip Line Adventure.

Lace-‘em-up and get your skate on with FREE skating—provided by St. John Providence—at the Campus Martius Park Ice Rink. [BYOB—Bring Your Own Blades—or rent skates for $3]

‘Stick’ around for the Hockey Shot Competition presented by Great Expressions Dental Centers (GEDC). “Throughout the weekend, attendees will have a chance to shoot and score cool prizes from GEDC, Winter Blast and the Detroit Red Wings…. The competition will take place on the ice rink at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and at 5 p.m. Sunday.”

And, finally, land a triple with the Skating Exhibitions put on by the Detroit Skating Club, New Edge Figure Skating Club, and the Creative Edge Synchronized Skating Teams. The Detroit Skating Club will perform at 8 p.m. on Friday, and 2 and 4 p.m. on Saturday; New Edge Figure Skating Club will take the ice at 1 p.m. on Sunday; and the Creative Edge Synchronized Skating Teams will bring it all together with synchronized skating performances at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Don’t miss the 2017 Meridian Winter Blast presented by Quicken Loans from January 20th-22nd!
